The Emirates Business Class Experience
If you follow me on social media you’ll know that I recently went on my first trip to Sri Lanka. I just loved it there - the people, the food, the culture and scenery, everything about the country left me wanting more. I travel very frequently but I very rarely pass comment on the airline I travel with but on this occasion I wanted to share my full experience of flying Business with Emirates as it was such a highlight and so bloody impressive!
My journey from Dublin took my via Dubai to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. The Emirates Business Class experience begins before you’ve even reached the airport. A complimentary chauffeur service from home means you can get in the holiday mood from the moment you leave the house. Courteous and prompt, I got a call from the driver informing me that he was outside at the allocated time, ready when I was. A shiny new black Mercedes awaited. Needless to say I arrived in Dublin airport feeling very calm and ready for the adventure ahead. The experience continues at the airport, with a separate check-in counter dedicated to Business Class Passengers, meaning now queues and fast track through security.
I had some shopping to do so I didn’t make it to the Business lounge in Dublin airport but I made up for it Dubai. More to come on that later. As I boarded the flight, I was directed to my seat and offered a glass of champagne and some tasty canapes. It was only midday but I mean it would have been rude not to, right?! The cabin featured a 2-3-2 configuration with each seat having plenty of legroom (I’m 6f 1’ and had lots of space) and lie-flat beds.
What I really loved was the service. The on-board crew were so friendly and attentive. They couldn’t do enough for me. After take-off I was handed a gorg amenity kit filled with luxurious Bvlgari goods to keep me moisturised and smelling divine, as well as a toothbrush and toothpaste, a long-haul flight essential! The inflight entertainment system is jammed with movies and TV shows ( I watched ‘A Monster Calls’ - not recommended if you’re prone to a good cry, it’s so sad, I was in bits!)
I was catching a connection fligth in Dubai so I was able to enjoy the perks of flying business yet again by making my way to the Emirates Lounge in Dubai airport. The Emirates Lounge is insane, it’s so big and equipped with everything from a Costa coffee bar to a beauty parlour. It was the choice of food that got me going. Despite the fact that I’d eaten a delicious 4 course meal on the flight on the way over. The food in the lounge is varied and in plenty supply. There’s a health food bar with delicious fresh juices and healthy salads and light bits. This was perfect for me as I was conscious I had another meal to go on my next flight to Colombo and I didn’t want to miss out on a morsel of the experience. All dishes are served with silver cutlery, glassware and a fabric napkin, making the on-board dining experience feel more like a restaurant dining experience than an aircraft.
I arrived in Colombo feeling as refreshed as could be expected after a 16 hour journey and excited for the adventure ahead. Every step of the experience was luxurious, I felt completely spoiled. My only gripe? My regular flights back and forth to London now seem pretty grim in comparison!
If you're planning a trip, do yourself a favour and be sure to check Emirates out before booking.
